DENVER (AP) – Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has declared a disaster emergency because of a propane shortage that could leave 33,000 customers without enough fuel in the midst of winter.
Hickenlooper’s declaration, issued Monday, temporarily relaxes restrictions on how many hours propane truck drivers are allowed to work. The order says rules that prohibit ill or fatigued drivers from working are still in effect.
State officials blame the shortage on production problems at Colorado propane facilities. Suppliers have begun to bring in propane from out of state, requiring longer trips for delivery drivers.
Officials say expected cold weather will make the shortage worse.
The Canadian Coast Guard is reporting that the Atlantic Ice in Canada is increasing. The extreme cold temperatures and the high winds have been combining to expand the Arctic ice this year. There is a natural cycle to this and they have reported that the seasonal “freeze up” is occurring three to four weeks ahead of normal and above the 30-year average. This winter is once again extremely cold. It has only been in the 60/70s here in Tampa and the same is true in Abu Dhabi. If next year 2019/2020 is colder still, this will be the fourth year and at then we would decline at a bare minimum very steeply into 2021/2022, where our models on markets are predicting a shocking event.
Anak Krakatau volcano has apparently partially (nearly completely) collapsed into the parent caldera, after the landslide that caused the devastating tsunami. Note the ongoing underwater activity – prior to the event the volcano was over 300 m high! Report: Seismologia Chile
New research in Antarctica shows CO2 follows temperature “by a few hundred years at most.
The question of “which comes first, the temperature or the CO2 rise?” has been much like the proverbial “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” question. This seems to settle it – temperature came first, followed by an increase in CO2 outgassing from the ocean surrounding Antarctica.
“Our analyses of ice cores from the ice sheet in Antarctica shows that the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere follows the rise in Antarctic temperatures very closely and is staggered by a few hundred years at most,” –
Geoengineering tests publicly announced by Harvard University, so my question is what happens if the program is live and Earth experiences a VEI-6 or VEI-7 level volcanic eruption, then what? From my own research, that is a run away cooling event where we would have multiple years with almost zero agricultural production globally.
